In the spring of 2004, the Thomas Jefferson Foundation commissioned the Perkiomen Clock Co. to build an authentic reproduction of the tall-case clock that originally stood in the kitchen at Monticello. The original that Thomas Jefferson had purchased was built by Thomas Dring of West Chester, Pennsylvania, and sold at his dispersal sale in 1827. Standing in the Monticello kitchen with the finished clock is Jim Shott on the right with Justan Sarafin, Curatorial Research Assistant. |
