The Dominy

Circa 1810

Three generations of the Dominy family lived and built clocks in the small village of East Hampton, Long Island. They were unique in that they built the whole clock, the case, the movement and decorated the dial. Less than a 1/2 mile away from their shop is where Jim's grandfather James Thomas Shott started his family in America. Jim's father James Law told stories of how he played with the tools in the shop with his friend Bobby Dominy. The entire shop with all its tools is currently on permanent display at the Winterthur Museum in Wilmington, Delaware. The clock shown in mahogony with a rocking ship dial.
